Story Medicine Studio
Story Medicine Studio is an initiative to share the healing power of storytelling; creating spaces where stories are honored and the threads of our shared experiences connect us more deeply to each other and to ourselves.
Through a series of circles and workshops, participants will get to explore the healing power of storytelling around experiences such as parenthood, womanhood, girlhood, childhood, and caregiving.
How Story Medicine Works
In Story Medicine Circles, people come together to share experiences, listen deeply, and feel the restorative power of being heard.
These circles support participants in:
Reducing feelings of shame, isolation, and resentment
Preventing burnout
Strengthening empathy and connection
Remembering our shared humanity
Through The Story Medicine Studio, sharing stories becomes an act of healing - for ourselves, for our communities, and for the connections.
More on Narrative Medicine
Narrative Medicine originated in the healthcare world, pioneered by Dr. Rita Charon at Columbia University. It’s based on the belief that listening to and honoring stories is essential to true healing. Today, it’s used not only by doctors, nurses, and therapists, but also by artists, social workers, and community leaders who recognize storytelling as a form of medicine.
Core Principles:
Attention - Deep, nonjudgmental listening to another’s story.
Representation -Reflecting and expressing stories through writing, art, or conversation.
Affiliation - Building connection and compassion through shared narrative.
Practitioners may use reflective writing, literature, and small-group storytelling to cultivate empathy, reduce burnout, and strengthen connection -especially in caregiving roles.

STORY MEDICINE WORKSHOP : Tools to Help You Navigate Big Feelings (Ages 2–5)
This interactive workshop is designed for parents and caregivers to explore how storytelling can help children navigate big feelings. We’ll share stories about tantrums, overwhelm, and emotional ups and downs, and then I’ll teach practical ways to use SIMPLE storytelling as a tool for co-regulation. Drawing on years of experience as a body-based, mental health-focused speech therapist, you’ll leave with tools to strengthen connection, ease overwhelm, and turn challenging moments into opportunities for connection.

STORY MEDICINE CIRCLE : Parents & Children Ages 3–5
Gather with your child around a pretend “fire” — a space we’ll first build together — to share stories and connect. In this circle, parents take turns telling stories in a “When I was your age…” style, inviting children into the wisdom, humor, and vulnerability of your experiences. After stories are shared, we co-create a collaborative picture, drawing the story together as a family.
The hope is that children feel less shame around challenging experiences, less alone, and more connected, while fostering community, collaboration, and deeper connection to themselves and others. It’s a playful, heartfelt space where storytelling becomes a shared act of healing and belonging.
