The Heart Behind This Idea
I've been working in the field of speech-language pathology for 8 years, with a foundation DIR/Floortime integrating mental health and Polyvagal theory approaches. My journey with self-regulation and self-care began during grad school when I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Shortly after having my baby and returning to work 2 years ago, I was also diagnosed with arthritis. These experiences taught me firsthand what it feels like to be burnt out, stuck in fight-or-flight mode, while trying to help others and be present for my clients.
For the last 10 years, I’ve focused on improving my regulation and mental health and I have witnessed the impact my personal work has on the regulation and growth of my clients. As a mom, yoga instructor, creator, and highly sensitive human, I’ve had to navigate how to support myself in a field that doesn’t often provide the support I need. Now, I feel excited to have the opportunity to support SLPs so they don’t have to feel chronically underreported, drained and frustrated with this field.
SLPs at Ease Is a virtual experience for clinicians who refuse to choose between their well-being and the quality of care.
